The texture of golden straw fermenting agent straw is hard and rough, making it difficult for animals to chew. This significantly reduces palatability and nutritional value. Freshly harvested wheat and rice straw, as well as dry straw, have high cellulose content but low levels of protein and soluble sugars. Feeding such straw to cattle and sheep can negatively impact their feeding behavior and overall productivity.
To improve this, straw can be fermented into feed by adding microbial compound inoculants, such as the Kinpo straw fermenting agent. Under the action of these microorganisms and enzymes, the straw becomes soft, moist, and aromatic—making it more appealing to livestock like cattle and sheep. Using the Jinbao straw fermenter not only enhances the nutritional value of the feed but also reduces farming costs and promotes resource efficiency. It's a practical and beneficial project worth promoting.
Here’s how to produce fermented feed using the Golden Baby straw fermenter:
1. **Preparation of materials**: The straw should be cut or crushed into small pieces, depending on the animal. For cows, horses, and quail, chop the straw into 1–2 cm lengths. Sheep and deer require about 1 cm pieces. For pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, and rabbits, the straw should be fully crushed.
2. **Mixing the ingredients**: Use 1 kg of straw fermenting agent per 500 pounds of straw. First, dissolve the starter in warm water (30–35°C) and mix thoroughly. Cold water can be used in summer. Then, combine this with the prepared straw material. Ensure the moisture level is around 60–70%. To check, grab a handful of the mixture—if no water drips from your fingers, it’s just right. The straw-to-water ratio is roughly 1:1.5.
3. **Piling the materials**: Stack the mixed straw in a pile that is 40–50 cm high. Place a thermometer inside and cover it with a heat-retaining and moisture-preserving material to start the fermentation process.
4. **Temperature control**: In summer, fermentation usually takes 6–8 hours. In winter, it may take 16–24 hours at temperatures above 15°C. If the ambient temperature is below 15°C, try to raise it to at least 15°C. If the pile is insulated, the fermentation will proceed faster.
5. **Turning the pile**: When the temperature reaches 40°C, turn the pile once. Make sure the temperature doesn’t exceed 45°C, as this could lead to over-fermentation. It’s best to turn the pile 1–2 times during the entire process. When the straw turns yellow and emits a pleasant aroma, the fermentation is nearly complete. At this point, remove the covering, let it cool, and avoid re-heating due to secondary fermentation. For more details, visit the official website or contact the support team.
