Throwing a Curve Ball>
This weekend started off beautifully, with a few sunny rays breaking through the clouds and giving us a taste of warmer weather. We decided to embrace the fleeting warmth and took the kids outside to play with sidewalk chalk, letting their bare feet feel the last traces of lingering winter. But as quickly as it had arrived, the sun disappeared, replaced by a stormy sky unleashing a fury of wet snow, sleet, and hail. It felt like nature's final attempt to hold onto winter, desperate to keep our attention.
Just a few days ago, the scene outside was completely different—no sign of snow anywhere. Here’s a photo from those bright, sunny days:

But last night, the transformation was stark. The change in weather forced us to cancel our evening plans for a date night at the theater. Instead, we stayed home, lighting candles for a cozy dinner at the table. The kids were tucked in early, and my husband and I exchanged stories over plates of comfort food, feeling the rhythm of the season shift.

Speaking of comfort, take a look at this little guy. He’s becoming quite the independent eater, even using a spoon—though, as you’ll see, he doesn’t always stick to tradition!

Despite the unpredictable weather, we decided to embrace the unexpected. Bundling up in layers, we grabbed shovels, sleds, and whatever else we could find—carrots for noses and prunes for eyes—and ventured out into the fresh blanket of snow. We built two snowmen, naming them Fluffy and Tuffy. Aliyah’s creativity really shines here:

Fluffy and Tuffy might not win any awards for traditional snowman design, but they bring so much joy. Life is full of surprises like this, isn’t it? Plans can fall apart, but it’s in those moments of spontaneity that we often find the most fun. Instead of sulking about the sudden return of winter, we laughed, played, and embraced the chaos. By the end of the day, we were exhausted but content, wrapped up in cozy sweaters and blankets.

There’s something magical about watching your child drift off to sleep, their breathing steady and peaceful. Holding my little one close reminded me how fleeting these moments are. As much as I long for spring, there’s beauty in every season—even the ones that feel like they’ve overstayed their welcome.

What unexpected moments are you enjoying right now? For me, it’s these simple yet profound connections with my family, even in the midst of chaos.

And a quick shoutout to Bonito Design for featuring our little one’s first birthday bash—it was such a special celebration!

As always, thanks for reading. Until next time, stay curious and keep embracing the unexpected!
