Detox Bath
I absolutely adore Epsom salt baths—they're great for pulling toxins out of the skin, relaxing sore muscles, and leaving your skin feeling clean and soft. While soaking in the tub, I use an exfoliating mitt to stimulate circulation. I particularly like the 'Italy towels' used in Korean bathhouses; they’re available at some Asian markets or health food stores, though I usually order mine on eBay. If you ever get the chance to visit a Korean bathhouse, it'll definitely give you a newfound appreciation for personal space!
After the bath (or shower), I generously apply extra virgin organic coconut oil to my skin. It melts right in and leaves my skin feeling hydrated without being greasy. Plus, it has a very subtle scent—if you're not into coconut, it won't overwhelm you, but I secretly wish it had a stronger aroma. {wink}
Coffee Scrub
Mix 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 1/2 cup turbinado sugar, and 2 cups of coarsely ground coffee. Gently rub it onto your skin in the bath or shower to soften rough patches and unclog pores.
Mix 1 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of orange juice, and 1 cup of coconut oil. Use it to gently exfoliate and rinse thoroughly afterward.
At-Home Hair Mask
Conditioning: Apple cider vinegar makes an excellent hair conditioner—it enhances shine and removes buildup. For basic conditioning, simply add 1 tablespoon of vinegar to your final rinse.
Dandruff: Before shampooing, massage full-strength vinegar into your scalp a few times a week. This can promote healthier hair and reduce dandruff.
Other Treatments:
Chapped Hands: Combine equal parts vinegar and hand cream to soothe dry, cracked hands.
Nail Polish: To make your nail polish last longer, soak your fingertips for 1 minute in 2 teaspoons of vinegar mixed with 1/2 cup of warm water before applying polish. Alternatively, dab your nails with a cotton ball soaked in vinegar.
Puffy Eyes: To refresh tired eyes, place thick slices of cucumber or cotton pads soaked in cold milk over your closed lids and relax. If you don’t have either, chill a spoon in the freezer and press it against your eyes.

Whenever I'm not busy baking a huge batch of cinnamon rolls (and inevitably ending up licking the frosting bowl clean), or treating my little girl to popcorn and candy during our "movie feast," I try to live as naturally as possible. That means eating foods as close to their natural state as I can and using products that are made from natural ingredients (though I do occasionally indulge in a few non-natural favorites—don't judge me too harshly!). So today, I thought I’d share some of my favorite natural tricks that make people think I’m somewhat presentable.
Nourishing Bath
When my skin feels dry, an oatmeal bath is my go-to remedy. Simply blend or grind 1 cup of rolled oats until it's almost powdery and sprinkle it into a warm bath—it's fantastic for moisturizing, calming irritated skin, and soothing your nerves.
If you've got a day off and want to pamper your hair, some oils from your pantry can work wonders, especially during the upcoming summer months when hair tends to get dry and unruly. I recommend using 1/4 to 1/2 cup of olive or coconut oil, working it through dry hair, tying it back into a bun, and leaving it on for at least an hour. Heat helps the oil penetrate better, so if you plan to spend time outdoors, apply the oil in the morning and let it sit until evening. Just avoid over-washing your hair later—once or twice should suffice. Your tresses will thank you.
Now, let’s talk about my favorite foot treatment—I didn’t make this one myself, but it’s amazing.
To keep my feet sandal-ready, Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Cream is my holy grail. And since we’re enjoying this lovely preview of summer weather, I want to gift a tube to one of you lucky readers!
All you need to do is leave any old comment on this post, and I’ll randomly select a winner sometime next week. Don’t worry—just because it’s an “old†comment doesn’t mean you’ll get an old product. You’ll receive a brand-new tube, fresh out of the box.
Good luck, and may your bathroom transform into an all-natural spa!
