The use of foliar fertilizers in late cotton>
Cotton growers typically apply top dressing in late July, which is the peak growth period for cotton. During this time, the plant experiences a lot of budding, flowering, and boll formation, and it requires a significant amount of nutrients from the soil. However, in North China, July to September is the rainy season, bringing heavy rainfall that leads to waterlogged soils. This oversaturation can cause root suffocation, poor root development, and reduced nutrient uptake, leading to various physiological issues such as bud and boll drop, yellowing leaves, and red leaf blight.
To address these problems during the middle and later stages of cotton growth, using foliar fertilizers is an effective solution. These products provide essential nutrients directly to the leaves, helping to improve plant health and reduce losses.
In July and August, excessive rain can lead to poor growth, with yellowing leaves and insufficient nutrient supply to the bolls, resulting in bud and boll drop. At this stage, applying "Lion Card Ye Tsui" (diluted 900 times) combined with "Fructobacillus" (diluted 6,000 times) every 10 days for two applications can quickly restore leaf color and significantly reduce the occurrence of bud and boll drop.
When spraying pesticides, fungicides, or plant hormones, mixing them with "Lion and Horse Ye Cui" (900 times diluted) can help reduce stress on the plant and improve overall performance.
During the flowering and bolling phase, if there's severe boll drop, spraying "Lion and Horse Huabao" (900 times diluted) every 10 days can greatly reduce boll loss and increase fruit set, thereby boosting yield. For even better results, combining "Huabao" with "Fructus Arborescens" and "Ai Zengmei" (3,000 times) enhances pollination and improves the anti-drop effect.
In April and August, cotton stem blight often occurs due to potassium deficiency and other nutritional imbalances, causing leaf drop. To prevent this, spraying "Lion and Horse King Guo" mixed with "Fructus Lycii" (6,000 times) two to three times every 10 days not only helps control stem blight but also promotes boll development, increases fiber length, and reduces damage from Verticillium wilt.
By following these practices, farmers can effectively manage common physiological disorders in cotton and improve overall crop quality and yield.
