Clutch slippery prevention
In a 654 tractor, a problem occurred due to a leak in the diesel tank sediment cup. Diesel oil seeped through the observation hole plate of the clutch housing and reached the clutch friction plate, causing the clutch to slip under load. If we were to disassemble and clean it properly, it would take about two or three days. However, during the busy spring plowing season, time was critical. Instead of waiting for a full cleaning, a quick and effective solution was applied, and the issue was resolved in just 20 minutes.
The method used was both practical and efficient. First, the clutch free play was eliminated by adjusting the pedal. Then, the clutch pedal was pressed all the way down to ensure the master and slave cylinders were fully separated. After that, the clutch was slowly rotated while a gasoline torch was used to spray a small amount of gasoline directly onto the clutch plate. This process was repeated for a few rotations to help dissolve and remove the diesel residue. Finally, the clutch clearance was adjusted back to the proper setting, ensuring smooth operation once again.
This approach not only saved valuable time but also avoided unnecessary downtime during the crucial farming period. It demonstrated the importance of quick thinking and practical problem-solving on the farm.
