Selection of shrimps of Penaeus vannamei

Choosing healthy shrimp is an important part. Penaeus vannamei shrimps are usually sold in two sizes, namely body length 0.8-1.0cm and body length 1.0-1.2cm, and they are also divided into seawater seedlings and desalinated seedlings. Generally, the survival rate of large-sized shrimp seedlings is higher than that of small-sized shrimp seedlings. Desalinated shrimp seedlings have strong adaptability to changes in salinity. During the rainy season, or in areas where estuaries and salinity have changed significantly, low-salinity brackishwater aquaculture is used, and the desalination shrimp seedlings have a higher survival rate. Selection of shrimp seedlings should be highly regarded and meticulous, and should be selected for health, appendage integrity, body surface and appendage clean, normal body shape, neat specifications, with adherent behavior of shrimp. The survival rate of shrimps with a total length of 1.2 cm or more is high. Generally, the shrimps of Penaeus vannamei are less than 0.6cm in length, and the survival rate is below 10%. The total length of the shrimps is 0.8cm and the survival rate is about 15%. The shrimps with a total length of 1.0cm have a survival rate of about 35%. 1.2cm above the shrimp, the survival rate of about 50%, up to 80% to 90%; stocking 1.3 ~ 1.4cm shrimp, the survival rate of 75% to 96%. Visible seedling size and survival rate is closely related.
