China's independent development of patented product protein chip technology

Release date: 2007-12-20

China has made a significant breakthrough in the field of autoimmune disease detection with its self-developed protein chip technology, a patented system that enables rapid and accurate diagnosis. As the incidence of autoimmune diseases continues to rise, early detection has become more critical than ever. Traditional methods often require hours of testing, but this innovative microarray enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technology can deliver results within just one hour, offering a major improvement in efficiency and accuracy. The "Autoimmune Disease Antibody Spectrum Diagnostic Kit (Microarray ELISA)" is a product developed by Beijing Huada Jibi Biotechnology Co., Ltd. It allows for the simultaneous detection of six key autoantibodies associated with conditions like systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjögren's syndrome, and others. During clinical trials, a hospital in Beijing initially doubted the practicality of the technology, believing it was only suitable for research. However, after a short trial period, they were amazed by how quickly the test could process dozens of samples in under half a day—something that previously took them all day using traditional methods. This advancement has now received approval from the State Food and Drug Administration, marking a milestone in China's diagnostic industry. With over 500,000 new cases of systemic autoimmune diseases each year, the demand for fast, reliable, and cost-effective detection methods is growing rapidly. Currently, most antibody tests rely on imported reagents, which lack standardization and may not be as sensitive or specific as needed. This new technology offers a domestic alternative that is both efficient and scalable. Dr. Feng Feng, deputy general manager at Huada Jibi, explained that the inspiration for the project came from challenges faced during the SARS outbreak. Rapid and accurate differential diagnosis is essential to avoid unnecessary resource use and cross-infection. By combining DNA chip concepts with traditional ELISA techniques, the company successfully developed a microarray ELISA platform that is high-throughput, low-cost, and highly automated. With this technology, a single sample can be tested for multiple indicators simultaneously, requiring smaller sample volumes and delivering higher sensitivity and reliability. The system has been widely recognized by experts as a valuable tool in clinical settings. It not only improves early diagnosis rates but also helps reduce complications and improve patient outcomes. Looking ahead, Huada Jibi plans to expand the application of protein chip technology to other areas such as tuberculosis, tumor markers, and HPV detection, further broadening its impact in the medical field. With over a decade of experience in diagnostic reagent development, the company has established itself as a leader in the industry, contributing to national projects and receiving recognition from government officials. This latest innovation represents another step forward in the evolution of clinical diagnostics, driven by advancements in genomics and biotechnology.
