Beef cattle two complementary feed production technology

Beef cattle two complementary feed production technology

At present, an increasing number of farmers, herders, and specialized households are raising beef cattle. During the feeding process, in addition to providing carbohydrates such as corn, sorghum, melon stems, and bean cakes, it's also important to include protein-rich feeds and high-quality forage. To enhance the fattening effect, it's recommended to supplement the diet with feeds that are high in sugar and rich in vitamins. The "two complementary feeds" technique for beef cattle is now described below: The saccharification feed utilizes the amylase present in cereal seeds to convert part of the starch into maltose, improving the taste and digestibility of the feed. The production method involves mixing ground seeds with 2.5 times their weight in hot water, stirring thoroughly, and maintaining a temperature between 50°C and 55°C to activate the amylases. After about six hours, the sugar content can increase to approximately 10%. Adding 2 kg of malt per 100 kg of seeds can speed up the process and improve efficiency. This saccharification feed is typically added to the cattle’s diet at a rate of 10%, which they greatly enjoy, resulting in a noticeable improvement in weight gain. The germination feed provides essential vitamins to beef cattle. Cereal seeds that have sprouted to a length of about 1 cm are rich in vitamin E, while those sprouted to around 7 cm contain higher levels of carotene, vitamin B2, and vitamin C. The production method involves soaking the seeds in warm water (18°C–22°C) for 15 hours, then spreading them on wooden trays or fine sieves to a thickness of about 5 cm. Cover them with sacks or straw mats and regularly mist them with water to maintain moisture. Keep the room temperature around 25°C, and the germination process will take about seven days. Germinated feed not only serves as a high-quality supplementary feed for beef cattle but also benefits other livestock and poultry by providing essential nutrients. By incorporating these two types of feeds into the daily ration, farmers can significantly improve the health, growth rate, and overall productivity of their animals. This method is both cost-effective and sustainable, making it a valuable practice in modern beef cattle farming.
