Method of multiple use of plastic film

Mulching cultivated crops with plastic film can help them mature earlier, increase yield, and improve quality. However, in actual agricultural practices, most mulch films are discarded due to improper usage. To maximize the reuse of plastic film and reduce production costs, it's highly recommended to use the same film multiple times. The following are some effective methods for reusing mulch films: One common approach is to use a new film at the end of winter to cover wheat. By mid-March of the following spring, when the wheat is ready for harvest, the film can be removed in early April and then used to cover watermelons. This allows for efficient use of the same film across different crops. Another method involves using the film multiple times for wheat and vegetables. From late November to mid-March, the film is used for winter wheat. After that, it is reused for spring vegetables, and the film is removed about 10 days before planting summer crops. In early April, the film is used again for summer vegetables, and some areas may even continue using it for autumn crops. As long as the film is carefully removed, it can typically be reused up to four times. Several crop rotation systems have been developed to make the most of mulch film. For example: 1. Winter wheat - cabbage - cucumber (or tomato) 2. Winter wheat - raw bamboo shoots - tomatoes (or cucumber) 3. Winter wheat - cumin - sweet pepper 4. Winter wheat - radish - cabbage - cowpea 5. Winter garlic - water radish - cowpea - tomato 6. Winter spinach - water radish - fennel - tomato In these examples, fast-growing vegetables like radishes and fennel can be adjusted to fit different schedules. Similarly, fruiting crops such as melons, tomatoes, and cucumbers can also be interchanged based on seasonal needs. Another strategy is to keep the film in place and only change the crops. For instance, after planting cabbage, you can later plant sweet peppers. In the autumn, you might grow bamboo shoots or beans, and in the fall, plant cucumbers. Additionally, the film can first be used for wheat, then a small arch shed can be built over it. After removing the wheat, the same plastic film can be used to create a small shed for growing cowpeas or other vegetables. It can also be used in greenhouses, where the film is peeled off and then reused for cultivating tomatoes or other crops. By implementing these strategies, farmers can significantly reduce their costs and improve sustainability through smart mulch reuse.
