Kelp powder is a good form of processing, convenient storage, transportation and sales, but also can be further processed into other foods.

Process flow raw seaweed → washing → soaking → dislocation → drying → chopping → drying → crushing → sieving → finished seaweed → powder

Production Method

1. Wash. Fresh seaweed or commercial seaweeds are frequently changed and washed to remove sediment, salt and other impurities.

2. Soak. The washed kelp was soaked for more than 24 hours in the case of frequent water changes, and the arsenic content was reduced to 1 mg/kg or less.

3. Dislocated. The arsenic-removed kelp was treated with a deodorizer such as laurel oil to remove the smell of kelp, making it odorless or a slight taste of the deodorizer. However, the mouthfeel was still kelp.

4. Drying. The dried kelp was placed on a rope and dried to remove the adherent moisture to a slight dryness.

5. Chopped. The seaweed that has been dried to a slight dryness is cut into filaments or pieces with a knife.

6. Dry. The chopped kelp was placed in a constant temperature chamber and dried at 100-110°C for about 3 hours until there was no residual moisture in the kelp.

7. Crush. The dried chopped kelp was pulverized into a coarse powder with an electric grinder.

8. Sifting. The coarse kelp powder is passed through a 100 mesh or 120 mesh sieve to obtain finished kelp powder.

9. Repeat smashing and sieving until no residue or a small amount of slag remains.

Product use The kelp powder produced in the prior can be made into a variety of health foods by adding appropriate excipients, such as seaweed sauce, kelp, seaweed filling, kelp cake, kelp sugar, kelp popsicle, and the like.
