Summer sows are difficult to breed

Summer sows are difficult to breed

Many farmers have found that the conception rate of sows in the summer is low, which affects the production efficiency. To solve this problem, we must first understand the root cause. In general, there are four main reasons.
First, the ambient temperature is too high The boar semen's vitality is negatively correlated with the ambient temperature within a certain range. The higher the ambient temperature, the lower the semen's vigor. In summer, boar libido decreased, semen became thinner, dead spermatozoa increased, and vitality decreased significantly. This is the most direct cause of the low fertility rate of sows in summer.
Second, the nutritional reasons First, high summer temperatures, sows difficult to heat, feed intake decreased. The amount of nutrients needed for sow breeding is insufficient, there is irregular estrus and ovulation, affecting mating and conception, and stillbirths and weaker ones.
The second is the poor stability of vitamins in feed during the hot season, resulting in lack or deficiency of vitamins in feed. This is one of the basic causes of low conception rates and abnormal embryonic development.
Third, lack of or lack of green feed, resulting in constipation of male and female pigs.
Third, lack of exercise, hot weather, sows, less exercise, affecting mating with hind limb fatigue; too little boar movement, decreased semen vitality, directly affect the conception rate. Sows and boars are allowed to move around the stadium for about one hour every day. Fourth, the cause of disease First, the parvovirus disease: the infected sows may again estrus, or neither estrus, no litter, or only a few litter size, or produce mummified fetus.
The second is the atypical swine fever: the immune system of pigs is reduced. Sows infected with swine fever virus often cause reproductive problems, embryo death and absorption, and the number of calving sows is small or return.
The third is Japanese encephalitis: multiple in summer. Boars mainly manifested as orchitis, decreased sexual function, and decreased semen quality; after the occurrence of JE in sows, they showed difficulties in breeding, miscarriage, and stillbirth.
Fourth, leptospirosis: the disease can cause fetal death, miscarriage and reduce the survival rate of piglets.
Fifth, uterine infection: The most common are E. coli and Staphylococcus. Uterus is brought in by boars when they are mated (wrapped effusion, semen itself), or it may come from the vagina. Uterine colonies have the greatest harm to the initial sow.
Sixth, porcine reproductive and respiratory disorders syndrome (blue ear disease): sows performance weight loss, ears, and abdomen, breast blue, miscarriage, premature delivery, stillbirth and weak. Sows have no postpartum milk and the piglet mortality rate is up to 10%.
Seventh, toxoplasmosis: Abortions, stillbirths, and mummified fetuses occur in sows suffering from toxoplasmosis.
Eighth, Eperythrozoonosis of pigs: Mastitis occurs in late pregnancy and postpartum sows, some sows aborted or stillbirth.
5. After taking measures to understand the main reasons for the low conception rate of sows, farmers' friends should take targeted measures in the following six aspects to improve the mating of sows.
1, do a good job in cooling work: install ventilation or spray cooling equipment. In summer, the pighouse temperature should be controlled below 25°C.
2. Appropriately supplement green feed: Each head breeder feeds 2-3 kilograms of green feed per day; add complex electrolysis to drinking water to supplement vitamin deficiency.
3, adjust the breeding pig diet: improve feed protein levels. The boar feed protein is controlled at 14%. The empty sow feed protein was controlled at 12.1%. At the same time, increase the supply of vitamins, especially fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and E.
4, rational use of breeding stock: First, control the frequency of breeding. The breeding of boars is not more than 5 times a week in the summer and most of them use artificial insemination; the second is adjusting the breeding time, and adjusting the mating type in the summer to late evening for mating.
5, do a good job of vaccination: According to the disease on the farm to develop a reasonable immunization program. In addition to routine immunization of breeding stocks, Japanese encephalitis vaccine injections should be administered every spring.
6, do a good job of sow health care: especially perinatal health care. Broad-spectrum antibiotics were added to the sows' sows at 1 week before and after sowing to purify sow disease. Pay attention to a post-natal sow, ie sow production
