How to improve the hatching rate of ostrich eggs

The hatching rate of ostrich eggs is a comprehensive indicator. There are many factors affecting it, but the most important is the quality of ostrich eggs and the management of hatching period. Grasping the following points, the hatching rate will be greatly improved.

(1) Picking up eggs After picking up eggs , they should be picked up in time. Do not allow the sun to be exposed for a long time, because high temperatures will increase the temperature inside the embryo and cause the embryo to die. In winter, the eggs should not be frozen. The eggs should not be taken by hand. They should be wrapped in a sterilized towel and sent to the hatchery immediately.

(2) There are two common methods for disinfecting disinfected eggs: one is to wash the eggs. Before washing the eggs, the soil or dirt on the surface of the eggs must be gently brushed off, and then rinsed with a ratio of 1:600. Or spray. After washing, it will naturally dry in the air, remember not to wipe with a damp cloth; second, fumigation, fumigation must be controlled with the dosage and time, generally 40% formalin per cubic meter with 15 ml and 7.5 g high Potassium manganate, fumigation time generally does not exceed 17 minutes.

(3) Storage of eggs After the eggs are disinfected, they are placed in the egg storage room. The storage of the eggs is generally not more than 7 days. Eggs should be stored with the gas chamber facing up. The temperature of the egg storage room should be controlled between 13 and 16 ° C, preferably not more than 17 ° C, and the humidity should be controlled at about 45% and not more than 60%. The air in the egg storage room should be circulated, and the eggs should not be flipped at the storage time.

(4) Temperature incubation temperature is the decisive factor for the success of hatching. For example, high temperature and low humidity incubation will dry the inner membrane of the egg, enclose the embryo, develop weak intestinal tube, and have low survival rate. Similarly, incubation at low temperature will prolong incubation. The time and the yolk that is not absorbed before hatching, edema birds, etc., the shelling rate is also low, so the incubation temperature should not be lower than 36 °C. The specific conditions should be based on different seasons, different incubation periods and temperature differences between the north and the south.

(5) Humidity The humidity of hatching is also an important factor affecting the hatching rate. Incubation humidity is too large, it is easy to cause edema birds; if the hatching humidity is too small, the embryo will lose weight too much, causing the embryo to be weak and die. The humidity of hatching is generally determined by the water loss rate of hatching of eggs. Generally, the optimum humidity for hatching eggs is generally 22%. If the humidity is too much, the air in the hatching room should be dehumidified.

(6) Ventilation and turning eggs Venting and turning eggs are also one of the factors affecting the hatching rate of eggs. Embryonic development requires breathing, inhaling oxygen from the air, exhaling carbon dioxide, and hypoxia leads to an increase in embryonic death and weak chicks. The imported and domestic incubators currently used guarantee air exchange without causing oxygen deficiency, but the air entering the incubator must be fresh. In addition, in order to ensure that the eggs are evenly heated and prevent the shell film from sticking, the incubator can be set to flip once every 2 hours (90 degree angle), or once every hour.

(VII) Incubation equipment Since the introduction of ostrich in China, imported hatching equipment has been used. From the perspective of hatching effect, domestically produced machines can compete with imported machines, but since domestic incubators do not have a dehumidification system, it is necessary to dehumidify the air in the hatchery. deal with.

In addition to the above points, the hatchery staff must strictly abide by the environmental sanitation system. When the staff enters the incubator, they must shower, change clothes, change shoes and step on disinfectant water. Non-workers must not enter the hatchery. Only in this way can we improve the hatching rate of eggs better and more effectively.
