Broccoli lateral branch cultivation management

Broccoli lateral branch cultivation management

Lateral branches of broccoli are commonly known as small flowers and small claws (homophones), that is, small flower bulbs with re-growth of lateral branches after main flower bulbs are harvested. This kind of side-branch flower bulb, if properly managed in the field, can still obtain higher economic benefits. Specific management points are as follows:

First, the choice of species. Based on the variety characteristics, early and mid-maturing varieties can be selected as the main varieties of side branch production, such as excellent green wind.

Second, the planting density. After the main flower bulb is harvested, proper plant type dispersion can facilitate the growth and development of the lateral branch curd. Therefore, the species to be harvested from the lateral branches should be dense and regular at the time of periodical, and the planting too dense will cause poor ventilation of the plants, and the lateral branches of the stems and stems will be weak and easy to open and spread, which will affect the quality. Generally, the spacing between the plants is 55cm, and the spacing is 60cm, that is, planting 2100-2200 plants per acre is appropriate.

Third, fertilizer and water management. After the main flower bulb is harvested, the base fertilizer and the top-dressing fertilizer have been basically consumed, and side-branch fertilizer must be added to the side branches collected. In general, after 60%-70% of the main flower bulbs are harvested, the collateral fertilizer can be used to meet the needs of the growth of collaterals and increase the yield of the main flower bulbs. Top dressing is mainly applied to plants, with 10-15 kg of urea and 10 kg of compound fertilizer. After the first batch of lateral branches were harvested, if the lateral branches were still robust, they could be topped with 10 kg/mu urea and the second batch of lateral branches could be harvested. This can harvest 4-5 batches of side bunches, with a total output of around 500 kg/mu. Wet soil should be kept throughout the growing season, but no water can accumulate in the field.

Fourth, pest and disease control. The export of broccoli prohibits the spraying of pesticides when the flower bulbs are budding. In the later stage of plant growth, there are more pests and diseases, and the collaterals collected must pay special attention to pest control. The late broccoli diseases mainly include black rot (using 80% of the necessary 600 times to prevent and control), downy mildew (50% of the world 1500 times to control), Sclerotinia (50% Xiu'an 1000 times). Insect pests mainly include the diamondback moth (with 5% cadmium 1200 times or 24% rayton 2500 times), and Pieris rapae (preventive control of Plutella xylostella).
