How domestic milk powder makes people feel relieved

Despite this, we cannot breathe a sigh of relief. The domestic milk powder is still facing the grim situation of the sequelae of the “Sanlu milk powder” incident. The foreign milk powder took the opportunity to occupy the domestic market and gain the trust of consumers. Although the market share of domestic milk powder and consumer confidence have rebounded greatly, the foundation of trust still remains. Not solid. Not facing this reality, and then drastically rectifying domestically produced milk powder, we may face two realities that continue to deteriorate. The first is that the domestic milk powder industry has a low reputation and the market share continues to erode foreign brands. Ultimately, the development of the industry is constrained by people and the interests of consumers are compromised. In the past two years, after the foreign milk powder had completed its land grab, it had repeatedly raised its prices and began to control the pricing power of China's milk powder industry. The second is that some low-end, low-quality manufacturers continue to fish in troubled waters, disrupt the market, drag down well-known brands and endanger public health. After “Sanlu Milk Powder” exposed the problem, “melamine” re-emerged last year.

In terms of public psychology, trust is often only once. A letter of infighting that leads to deep injury, even if it is believed in the rebuilding of trust, there will always be a hesitant rift under the surface of the healing of his psychological wounds. When there is a sign of trouble, the hesitation of the crack will awaken the pain of the past, and the foundation of his reply. It will collapse. In this sense, there is only one chance of trust and reconstruction for domestic milk powder, and it must give the people a real reason to be assured. More importantly, if the determination to give this reason is not thorough enough, if the measures are not sufficient, if the efforts are not resolute enough, if the time is not long enough, then the collapse and reconstruction of trust will be reduced to a wishful game.

Although industry self-regulation is the beginning and source of building a “safe milk powder chain,” the strong intervention of government departments may be the decisive force for domestic milk powder trust reconstruction under the situation where domestic milk powder is in a crisis of confidence. On March 15th, Inner Mongolia initiated a “safe start from the Inner Mongolia milk powder” campaign in Inner Mongolia to try to pick up the banner of “rest assured milk powder” in China. This government-led initiative will adopt seven powerful measures, including license review, factory inspection, batch inspection, full-process monitoring, and quality traceability, to strictly supervise the entire production process of milk powder companies. The purpose is to ensure that the quality of “reliable milk powder” produced in Inner Mongolia is 100% safe, and that it uses actual actions to defend the credibility of domestically produced milk powder and reshape consumer confidence.

During the two sessions, AQSIQ Director Shu Shuping revealed that by the end of March this year, it will complete the review and certification of remanufacturing licenses for all domestic dairy production enterprises, and will cancel production licenses for production companies that do not meet the specified conditions. The infant and toddler formula dairy safety and integrity system will be launched. In the past two years, the “Outline for Planning for the Rectification and Revitalization of the Dairy Industry”, the “Food Safety Law,” and the “Regulations on the Supervision over the Quality and Safety of Dairy Products” have also been successively introduced. This shows that the government departments have recognized their responsibilities in the domestic trust and reconstruction of milk powder and found their own position.

Food safety is the most basic livelihood. In the realistic environment where some foods have repeatedly exposed quality problems, people are not assured about the integrity of individual unfavorable foods, “Listening to the wind is the rain”, but they are not consuming, but are cherishing their own health and life safety, and they are cherishing foods. Security is self-defense in the absence of security. When there is a quality problem in food, government departments are the first object that people question, and they are also the last barrier to people’s trust. Therefore, government departments have only attached great importance to food safety as a major livelihood demand, built a system of scientific and reasonable systems for the construction of dams trusted by the people, and used the “sand” of supervision from the field to the table to gather the towers of people’s trust.
