Five key points for safe and efficient use of submersible pumps

Five key points for safe and efficient use of submersible pumps

1. When selecting a submersible pump, it should be noted that the type, flow rate, and head size of the selected pump are inappropriate, and they will not be able to obtain sufficient water output and the unit's efficiency will not be used. In addition, the direction of rotation of the motor should also be known. Some types of submersible pumps can produce water when they are rotating forward and backward. However, when the reverse rotation is small and the current is large, reverse rotation can damage the motor windings. In order to prevent leakage when the submersible pump is operating underwater, an electrical leakage protection switch should be installed.

2. When installing the submersible pump, the cable should be overhead and the power cable should not be too long. When the unit is under water, do not apply force to the cable to avoid the power cable from breaking. Do not sink into the mud while the submersible pump is in operation, otherwise it will cause poor heat dissipation and burn out the motor windings. When installing, the insulation resistance of the motor should not be less than 0.5 megohms; motors below 13 kilowatts can be started directly, and starter compensators should be used above 13 kilowatts.

3. Try to avoid starting at low voltage. The power supply voltage and rated voltage must not differ by 10%. If the voltage is too high, the motor will overheat and burn out the winding. If the voltage is too low, the motor speed will drop. If the rated speed is less than 70%, start the centrifugal switch. Will close, cause the starting winding to energize for a long time and generate heat and even burn out the winding and capacitor. Do not switch the motor on and off frequently. This is because the pump will generate a back-flow when it stops. If it is turned on immediately, the motor load will start, causing the start-up current to be too large and the winding to burn out.

4. Do not idle and overload operation Do not allow the pump to run for a long period of time. Do not pump water with a large amount of sediment. The dehydration time of the pump should not be too long to avoid overheating and burning the motor. During the operation of the unit, the operator must observe at any time whether its working voltage and current are within the values specified on the nameplate. If it is not in compliance, the motor should be stopped, the cause must be found out, and the fault must be corrected.

5. Check your motor regularly for frequent inspections. If you find cracks in the lower cover, damage or failure of the rubber seal rings, replace them or repair them in a timely manner to prevent water penetration into the machine.
