Take measures to make rabbits safe in summer

Take a arbor. Rabbits in the summer will suffer from heatstroke if exposed to sunlight for 4-6 hours. Therefore, it is necessary to take a shelter on an open-air rabbit cage. In the enclosed rabbit house, doors and windows must be opened for cooling.

2. Cut rabbit hair. After the summer, keep the rabbit's neck, back, and waist at the hair cuts, and trim the hair in other areas. The long-haired rabbit cuts the hair once before summer arrives.

3. Reduce the density. The group of rabbits should be divided into small groups so that the rabbits are not crowded and heated. Cage rearing needs to reduce the number of cages.

4. Ensure drinking water. Prepare enough clean, fresh water and add salt, vinegar, mint, etc. in the water.

5. Carefully feed. In summer, rabbits seldom eat during the day and should choose to be fed every morning and evening in a cool time. Should be fed more green feed, and in the feed mixed with a small amount of garlic mud, onion, leeks, etc., in order to facilitate sterilization and disease prevention. If rabbits are fed with wet material, the pots should be washed and dried daily to prevent accumulation of mildew in the remaining feed. In addition, feed the bean curd residue to feed fresh, how much to feed and how much to feed, in order to prevent the remaining material mold deterioration.

6. Wet brick heats up. In summer, bricks that have been soaked in cold water are placed in a rabbit cage and the rabbits are allowed to lie down on it to lower the body temperature.

7. Spray water to cool down. When the temperature of the cage exceeds 30°C, proper amount of clean water can be splashed around the ground and walls to facilitate cooling.

8. Do a good job of health. High temperatures and high humidity in summer are the most unfavorable season for rabbits. The incidence and mortality of rabbits in this season is the highest in a year. Therefore, it is very important to improve the rabbit house hygiene. Ditches should be dug around the rabbit house and there should be no dead pool. The rabbithouse should be regularly sterilized and kept clean.

9. Care for a rabbit. Unbroken pups should be housed in a spacious rabbit cage, reared with the female rabbits, and periodically weaned. The weaned young rabbits can be reared in separate cages after 1–2 weeks of adaptation.

10. Control breeding. In summer, due to the high temperature, the intake of rabbits is reduced and their constitution is weak, which results in poor semen quality of male rabbits. Female rabbits are prone to miscarriage after pregnancy. Even if the female rabbit is farrowing, the baby's constitution will be thin and the survival rate will be reduced because of the caloric reduction and the less lactation of the female rabbit. Therefore, under normal circumstances, breeding should be suspended.
