British researchers develop a broad-spectrum malaria vaccine

British researchers have recently developed a broad-spectrum malaria vaccine that can act on many kinds of Plasmodium at the same time. It has been validated in human blood sample experiments and animal experiments.

Researchers from institutions such as the University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom reported in a new issue of the "Science Public Library Comprehensive Volume" that the vaccine can cause a variety of antibody responses in the human body and can simultaneously deal with a series of malaria parasites. Plasmodium is the culprit responsible for malaria, but because there are many species of Plasmodium, the existing vaccines can only deal with some types of Plasmodium, the effect is not very satisfactory.

This study found that all species of Plasmodium contain a key protein, but this protein will show different types in different Plasmodium species. Therefore, the researchers used this protein as a breakthrough to combine different types of proteins and conduct research. Based on this, the vaccine developed can produce effects on many kinds of plasmodium at the same time.
