With the pace of urbanization, the area of ​​real estate planting in Wuxi has declined, and agricultural products such as vegetables have mainly relied on transportation from other places, which has also caused agricultural products to fluctuate greatly due to the influence of foreign prices. According to the requirements of agricultural product guarantee, Wuxi will establish a minimum quantity retention system for major agricultural products. The target is to ensure that the city will have a minimum holding of 800,000 mu of paddy rice, 200,000 mu of commercial vegetables, 300,000 mu of aquatic products, 800,000 live pigs, and 20 million poultry in 2015, ensuring that the self-sufficiency rate of major agricultural products will exceed 30%. The price of agricultural products plays a stabilizing role.

To ensure the realization of this goal, in the industrial layout of modern agriculture, the 800,000 mu high-quality rice industry will use the southeastern part of Jiangyin, northwestern Yixing, and eastern Shansi as food production bases to create “Longyuan” and “Taihu Lake Pearl”. The well-known local rice brand retains a certain number of “paddy field wetlands”. 200,000 mu of fine commercial vegetables will focus on the Huishan District Fine Vegetable Industrial Park, Yixing Yi District Vegetable and Jiangyin Suburb Vegetable Base, with the urban vegetable base stabilized at 80,000 mu, and the city's high standard vegetable base will grow to more than 40,000 mu. . In the high-quality tea and fruit industry, the focus is on Yangshan Peach, Mashan Yangmei, Lantuo Grape, and Yangshuo Tea to form a large-scale tea industry cluster. Wuxi will also rely on the water resources of the Yangtze River, Taihu Lake, and Wuhu to build a 300,000-mu fishery production base and develop advantageous aquatic product industries represented by “three Yangtze Rivers, three lakes in Taihu Lake” and “Wuhu Lake Freshwater”. Among them, in order to ensure people's livelihood, Wuxi will focus on building a “vegetable basket” engineering base for high-quality fruit and vegetable agriculture in Xixi, mainly including Yangshan and Luoshe Townships in Huishan District and Mashan and Hujing Townships in Binhu District, and radiate to drive the surrounding areas. Huishan Fine Vegetable Park, Yangshan Peach Garden and Sky Blue Green Ecological Farm are the main projects. It is planned to form 30,000 acres of peach peach industrial park and 30,000 acres of high standard fine vegetable base. The leisure agriculture section of Huanhu Lake will focus on the Taihu Lake area and combine ecological construction to speed up the promotion of Longji Ecological Park, Taihu Lake Flower Garden, Hongsha Bay Ecological Park, Jiulong Bay Country Home, Weiqiong Farm and others. The leisure agricultural park forms a leisure agriculture industry belt. It is estimated that by the end of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, Wuxi will realize a value-added of 12.5 billion yuan in agriculture, an average annual increase of 3.7%, and the per capita net income of farmers will reach 28,000 yuan.
